How to Apply for an Aadhar Card Offline

Step 1: Go to  and enter your State/ Pincode/ Locality/ District to locate the Aadhaar enrollment centre nearest to you.

Step 2: Visit the centre and make sure to bring the original copies of documents that are proof of the following with you:

  • Proof of Identity
  • Proof of Address
  • Proof of Birth Date

Step 3: When you arrive at the enrolment centre, fill out the enrolment form with the necessary accurate information.

Step 4: Submit the fully completed enrolment form and supporting documents mentioned above. Your photo and biometric information (iris and fingerprint scans) will be taken.

Step 5: The centre representative will issue you with an acknowledgement slip as confirmation of your enrolment. It includes a 14-digit enrolment number. This number can be used to track your Aadhar card application’s status on the following website -

Step 6: Once your information has been verified, your Aadhaar card will be posted to you by mail. It might take up to 90 days (3 months) to arrive.

Who Can Apply Aadhar Card Online?

Any resident of India or any individual who has resided in India for a period or periods amounting to 182 days or more in the 12 months immediately preceding the date of application for enrolment.

  • UIDAI process accepts wide range of PoI (Proof of Identity) and PoA (Proof of Address) documents. Document:- PDF Size:-1.6 M View the . Common proofs of identity and address are election photo ID card, Ration card, passport and driving license.
  • Photo ID cards like PAN card and Govt ID cards are permissible for identity proof. Address proof documents also include water - electricity - Landline telephone bills for the last three months.
  • In case you do not have above common proofs, Certificate of Identity having photo issued by Gazetted Officer/Tehsildar certificate proforma as prescribed by UIDAI is also accepted as PoI. Certificate of Address having photo issued by MP or MLA /Gazetted Officer/Tehsildar on letterhead or by Village Panchayat head or its equivalent authority (for rural areas) is accepted as valid PoA. Even if someone in a family does not have individual valid documents, the the individual seeking to enrol can still enrol if his/her name exists in family entitlement document. In this case the Head of Family mentioned in entitlement document needs to be enrolled first with valid PoI & PoA document. The head of the Family can then introduce other members in the family while they are enrolling. UIDAI accepts many document types as Proof of Relationship.
