Aadhaar Card Update Process: Be it any government scheme or booking a train ticket, Aadhaar Card is required everywhere. Many people have not yet updated their Aadhaar, in such a situation UIDAI is providing the facility to update Aadhaar card for free. This facility is available only till March 14, 2024, after which charges will have to be paid for online updating.

Aadhaar Card is an important document. Aadhaar card is required to buy a train ticket or apply for a government scheme. In such a situation, UIDAI has said that if a person has not updated his Aadhar card for 10 years, then he should do it as soon as possible.  

What can be updated online

If your Aadhar card is more than 10 years old and you have not updated it yet, then you should update it as soon as possible. You can update name, address, mobile number and e-mail ID card in Aadhar card online. However, for biometric update you will have to go to the Aadhaar center only.

How To Update Address In Aadhar Card?

It is crucial to update your biometric data on your Aadhaar. While you're at it, you should also keep your demographic details, like your address, updated.

The official UIDAI website provides a systematic method for Aadhaar card address change online:

  • Step 1 : Visit the My Aadhaar portal online - https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ - the official UIDAI portal and log in to your account. 
  • Step 2 : Click on 'Address Update.'
  • Step 3 : Select the 'Update Aadhaar Online' option to move forward with the address-updating process. Read through the instructions to understand what you need to do to change your address in your Aadhaar Card. Click on 'Proceed to Update Aadhaar.'
  • Step 4 : Carefully input the new address details and upload the necessary Aadhaar card address change documents.
  • Step 5 : Complete the process by paying the nominal fee of ₹50.
  • Step 6 : Upon submission, a Service Request Number (SRN) will be provided. It's essential for checking your Aadhaar address update status in the future.
  • Step 7 : Once the internal review is complete, you'll receive a confirmation SMS.

How to Change/Update Photo in Aadhaar Card

You can get your details in Aadhaar card updated by visiting a nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. You can follow the steps mentioned below to change the photo in Aadhaar card:

  • Step 1 : Visit a nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centre/ Aadhaar Sewa Kendra
  • Step 2 : Download the Aadhaar Enrolment/Correction/Update Form from UIDAI’s website
  • Step 3 : Fill the form with due diligence
  • Step 4 : Submit your form to the executive and provide your biometric details
  • Step 5 : Now, the executive will take your live photograph
  • Step 6 : You will have to provide biometrics to approve your details
  • Step 7 : A fee of Rs. 100 will have to be paid to get the details updated
  • Step 8 : You will get an Acknowledgement slip containing the URN
  • Step 9 : The Update Request Number (URN) can be used to check the UIDAI Aadhaar update status

How to Validate Signature in Aadhaar Via Mobile?

If your e-Aadhar signature is not verified, then you must follow these quick and simple steps to validate the signature using your smartphone:

  • Step 1: Download the mAadhaar app from the Google Play Store or App Store.
  • Step 2: Enter your registered mobile number and verify using an OTP sent to the registered number.
  • Step 3: Click on “Register My Aadhaar” on the home page of the app to create your profile by entering all the relevant details.
  • Step 4: Then enter your 12-digit Aadhaar card number and scan the QR code.
  • Step 5: Once the scanning is done, you will see the demographics and other details like photographs on your screen.
  • Step 6: Then you can download e-Aadhaar card and validate the e-signature.

How To Change Name On Aadhaar Card 

Currently, you cannot update the name online. Here is the step-by-step process to change your name on Aadhaar card:

  • Step 1 : Download the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Form from the official website of UIDAI. 
  • Step 2 : Visit your nearby Aadhaar enrolment centre or Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
  • Step 3 : Fill in the necessary details and provide this form to the executive.
  • Step 4 : Submit the original Proof of Identity document to the executives. They will take a xerox of it and give it back to you. 
  • Step 5 : Now submit a fee of Rs. 50 for updating your name on your Aadhaar.

Update DOB in Aadhar Card

To update your Date of Birth on your Aadhar Card, you need to visit the nearest Enrollment Centre with eligible documents. You can find a list of these documents on this page. Below is a step-by-step process to update or change your DOB on your Aadhar Card:

  • Step 1 : Visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Center nearby
  • Step 2: Fill out the Aadhaar Update Form/ Aadhar correction Form, i.e. https://uidai.gov.in/images/aadhaar_enrolment_correction_form_version_2.1.pdf 
  • Step 3 : Submit the form with the proof of Date of Birth
  • Step 4 : To authenticate your identity, you must provide your biometrics.  
  • Step 5 : You will receive a receipt containing the URN. The Status of your Aadhar update request can be tracked online by using the URN  
  • Step 6 : Pay the executive a fee of Rs.50  
  • Step 7 : Within 90 days, your DOB will be updated in Aadhaar card. 

Charge will have to be paid at Aadhaar center

You can update Aadhaar card online for free only till 14 March 2024. If you update the Aadhaar card offline i.e. by going to the Aadhaar center, then you will have to pay the charge.

You will have to pay a charge of Rs 50 for every update at the Aadhaar centre. This means that if you have to update your name and mobile number, you will have to pay a charge of Rs 100.

Let us tell you that even after March 14, you will have to pay a charge for online updating.

  • CGHS/ECHS/ESIC/Medi-Claim Card : With a photo, issued by State/Central Govt or PSUs.
  • Utility Bills : Including Electricity Bills, Water Bills, and Telephone Landline Bills (within the last three months).

  • Property Tax Receipt : Not older than one year
